Viktoria Melnyk, a participant in the regional “Young Person of the Year – 2026” competition in the “Pulse of Life” category
Viktoria Melnyk was born in Kramatorsk on Ukraine’s Independence Day—August 24, 1995. It was as if fate itself had determined her calling: to protect the life and freedom of her homeland.
Dreaming of a career in medicine, Viktoria began her studies at Donetsk National Medical University. However, the war in 2014 forced her to change her plans—she continued her education in Poltava, after which she returned to her native Kramatorsk to save the lives of her fellow citizens. Since 2019, she has been working as an anesthesiologist in the intensive care unit at City Hospital No. 2.
With the start of the full-scale invasion, Viktoria Olegivna remained on the front lines of civilian medicine. In Kramatorsk, near the front lines and under constant threat of shelling, she and her colleagues work every day to save patients with the most severe injuries and critical conditions from the grip of death. Her work involves making split-second decisions where a single mistake can cost a human life.
Viktoria Melnyk is a model of resilience, professionalism, and unwavering loyalty to the Hippocratic Oath during the most trying of times.
