As part of the “Side by Side: United Communities” project, young people from the Bakhmut community, along with representatives from the Bakhmut City Council’s Department of Youth Policy and Children’s Affairs and the “With Bakhmut in Our Hearts. Kremenchuk” chapter, visited the Kremenchuk Youth Parliament. The meeting served as a platform for exchanging experiences, where the main topic was not only civic engagement but also preserving memories of home.

Active young people from Kremenchuk shared their successes and spoke about the projects they had managed to implement over the past year. It was an interesting example of how one can influence the life of a city.

Students from Bakhmut presented their hometown and spoke about life and studies while evacuated. Through video footage, those present saw Bakhmut as we remember it: flourishing, peaceful, and cozy. And at the same time, the terrible destruction brought by the war... This contrast left no one indifferent.

Kateryna, a student at the Horlivka Institute of Foreign Languages, treated the audience to a creative performance, which served as a heartfelt addition to the gathering and brought positive emotions to everyone.

As a token of friendship and to promote our history, the youth of Bakhmut presented the people of Kremenchuk with a unique board game called “Code of Donetsk Region.” This edition, which is not available for purchase, will now help our friends better understand the cultural heritage of the Donetsk region.

The communities plan to gather around a game table in the near future to “crack the code” of our region and strengthen ties among young leaders.
