The Mykilsk community in Donetsk Oblast and the Kalynopil community in Cherkasy Oblast have become partners as part of the national project “Side by Side: United Communities.”
On October 28, 2026, in a virtual ceremony, a Memorandum of Cooperation between the communities was signed by Volodymyr Khalabuzar, head of the Mykilsk Town Military Administration, and Volodymyr Kovalenko, mayor of Kalynopil.
For the Mykilsk community, whose territory is temporarily occupied, this partnership is of particular value. After all, a community is, first and foremost, its people, their families, history, traditions, culture, education, and shared aspirations. Even when their hometowns and villages remain under occupation, the community continues to live, preserve its identity, and look confidently toward the future.
That is precisely why the signing of the Memorandum is much more than just the official formalization of agreements. It is a bridge of unity between Donetsk and Cherkasy regions—between communities separated by hundreds of kilometers but united by a love for Ukraine, a sense of responsibility for its people, and a belief in a shared future.
The document opens up new opportunities for cooperation in humanitarian, social, medical, educational, and other areas. It serves as the foundation for implementing joint initiatives, supporting residents, and maintaining the Mykilsk community’s strong ties with a free Ukraine.
