The stage ceases to be just a space and becomes a state where true creativity is born. This is the depth of an actor's existence that was revealed by the ‘Presence’ intensive course, which took place at the Donetsk Academic Regional Drama Theatre (Mariupol) under the guidance of Oleksandr Ivanenko.
Its main goal was to move away from the mechanical ‘reproduction’ of emotions and return to the real, living existence of the actor on stage. The intensive programme focused on the fundamental components without which, according to the master, ‘the stage does not hold’.
Director, actor, teacher and founder of the Academy of Acting and Public Speaking (Odessa) Oleksandr Ivanenko shared his professional experience with the training participants. With over 21 years of practice and more than 6,500 graduates, he presented a methodology that combines classical acting school with modern psychological approaches.
The acting workshop brought together an audience focused on professional growth: from experienced actors to those just preparing to enter the profession. Thanks to the free format of the event, young talents had a unique opportunity to learn from a teacher whose students are now successfully working in leading theatres and film projects.
The Donetsk Academic Regional Drama Theatre (Mariupol) continues to create space for the development of the Ukrainian theatre community, consistently maintaining high standards of professionalism and creative exploration.
