On May 4, 2026, a day care unit of the Territorial Center for Social Services (provision of social services) of the Central District of Mariupol began operating at the “Morshynkurort” health resort in Zakarpattia, with its primary mission being the support and rehabilitation of internally displaced persons (IDPs) from Mariupol.

The first 60 displaced persons arrived at the sanatorium for rehabilitation—these are elderly people and people with disabilities. This initiative combines professional medical care with a social assistance program for those who have lost their homes.

In addition to the medical component, the department’s work is focused on psychological recovery. Morshyn’s natural surroundings and the resort’s peaceful atmosphere help alleviate stress.

The day care unit strives not only to provide social services but also to create a space where residents of Mariupol can recharge—both physically and emotionally.

Clients of the day care center are transported to the Morshyn resort and back home free of charge.

The day care service at the Morshyn resort includes:

  • accommodation at the resort;
  • provision of social services;
  • meals;
  • leisure activities (classes, workshops, cultural events);
  • psychological support (sessions with a psychologist, self-help groups, emotional relief training).

Applications for social services at the day care center are accepted at the “YaMariupol” centers. The list is available at the following link: https://mhelp.org.ua/projects/tsentry-pidtrymky-ya-maryupol
