On the occasion of the Day of Remembrance for the Defenders of Ukraine who died fighting for our country’s independence, sovereignty, and territorial integrity, memorial plaques were unveiled in the village of Sofiivka at the Memorial Site for Ukraine’s Fallen Heroes to honor the fallen servicemen of the Staromlynivska community.
Alona Levterova, head of the Staromlynivska Rural Military Administration, unveiled the memorial plaques and laid flowers together with Sofiivka Village Head Petro Segedii and representatives of both communities. The event marked a continuation of the two communities’ collaboration as part of the national project “Side by Side: United Communities.”
Those present honored the memory of the fallen soldiers, recalled their lives and military service, and bowed their heads in mourning.
Memorial plaques are more than just commemorative markers. Behind every engraved name is a person, a family, dreams, plans, and a history of service to Ukraine. They will forever remain a part of the Staromlyniv community, our shared memory, and the history of the struggle for Ukraine’s freedom.
From now on, the Memorial Site for Ukraine’s Fallen Heroes will preserve the names of our fellow villagers who stood up to defend the state and gave their most precious gift—their very lives—for it.
