On October 29, at the initiative of the Department for Veterans Affairs, a meeting was held with officials responsible for veterans' affairs in district state administrations, district military administrations, military administrations of settlements, the Volnovakha military-civilian administration, and executive bodies of local councils regarding the implementation of veterans' affairs at the local level.
The following issues were discussed during the working meeting:
- amendments to Resolution No. 702 of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine dated July 11, 2023, "Certain Issues Concerning the Activities of Territorial Bodies of the Ministry of Veterans Affairs and Departments of Regional, Kyiv and Sevastopol City, District, and District Administrations in Kyiv and Sevastopol on Veterans Policy" regarding the transfer of personal files that served as the basis for decisions on granting (or revoking) disability status Kyiv and Sevastopol state administrations on veterans' policy" regarding the transfer of personal files that were the basis for decisions on granting (depriving) the status of a person with a war-related disability, a war participant, a victim of the Revolution of Dignity, and a family member of a deceased (deceased) war veteran, family member of a deceased (deceased) Defender of Ukraine in accordance with the acts of acceptance and transfer between structural units on social protection of the population and the relevant independent structural units on veteran policy of district state administrations;
- the Ministry of Veterans Affairs of Ukraine conducting inspections of local authorities regarding the establishment of the status of persons with disabilities as a result of war, family members of deceased (deceased) Defenders of Ukraine, and conducting internal monitoring of documents that were the basis for granting the status to the above-mentioned persons;
- developing draft economic and social development programs for 2026, namely bringing the wording of measures in these programs into line with current legislation;
- submitting reports to the regional state administration's department for veteran policy;
- implementation of a new state program to provide housing for combatants and persons with disabilities resulting from the war among internally displaced persons.
Following the meeting, it was agreed to continue working on improving the mechanisms for implementing state veteran policy at the local level. Particular attention will be paid to improving the quality of services and additional social guarantees for veterans, their families, and the families of fallen heroes, as well as establishing communication between government authorities and veteran communities.
