Published 22 May 2025 year, 20:30

Today, as part of the Open Government Week, a roundtable discussion "Active Generation: Inclusion. Partnership. Development". Deputy Head of Donetsk Oblast State Administration Oleksandr Shevchenko welcomed the participants of the event, which was held online.

The roundtable was attended by the Secretary of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine Oleksandr Yarema, heads of structural units of the Donetsk Regional State Administration, territorial units of central executive authorities, members of the youth council and active youth, in total about 150 participants.

During the event, they discussed opportunities to involve young people in decision-making at the local and national levels, shared examples of youth councils, participation in public hearings, strategic planning and implementation of initiatives. Young people presented their own experience in the field of youth policy, demonstrated practical results of participation in advisory bodies, and talked about the challenges they face in their activities.

Despite the war and difficult conditions, the activity of the youth sector has only increased. Youth policy has not stopped - it has strengthened, adapted to reality, and gained new value. The event was a clear indication of how young people not only want to be heard, but are already actively influencing the development of their communities and the country as a whole.

Oleksandr Shevchenko said: “Today we once again emphasize that young people are not just the future, they are the driving force of our present.”

In the current situation, when the country is at war, the issue of supporting and involving young people in social processes is extremely important. That is why such events contribute to the formation of an open dialogue between young people and government officials, which is an important prerequisite for building a modern democratic society.

Donetsk Regional State Administration will continue to support youth initiatives aimed at community development and enhancing youth participation in the public life of the region.
