In the context of strengthening measures to preserve national and local identity under martial law, a working meeting was held on August 1 with the participation of Deputy Head of the Regional State Administration Oleksandr Shevchenko. The event was attended by deputy heads of district state administrations, deputy heads of executive bodies of territorial communities of the region, and heads of structural units in the cultural sphere.

The main topic of discussion was the preservation of local cultural identity, in particular through the search for and promotion of elements of intangible cultural heritage, the preservation and study of museum collections and cultural monuments, and the development of local history work.

Deputy Head of the Regional State Administration Oleksandr Shevchenko emphasized the importance of preserving cultural heritage as a component of national resilience. He stressed that the historical memory and cultural identity of the region must be preserved and passed on to future generations, even in difficult circumstances, and called for active cooperation between the authorities, professionals, and the public.

The head of the Department of Culture and Tourism, Viktoria Tochena, reported on this issue, noting the communities that demonstrate activity and positive results in these areas, while at the same time drawing attention to the insufficient work of the heads of individual territorial communities, calling for increased efforts to preserve and promote local cultural heritage.

The meeting participants discussed practical aspects of documenting and protecting intangible heritage, preserving museum collections in wartime, and outlined directions for the further implementation of the regional local history project “Donetsk Region on the Map of Time.”
