As the security situation in the Donetsk region deteriorates, the evacuation of civilians from dangerous areas is accelerating. Over the past week, 8,400 people have left the region, including 460 children.
The evacuation in Donetsk Oblast was discussed during a traditional briefing at the regional state administration with representatives of the Department for Civil Protection, Mobilization and Defense and the Department of Social Protection.
As of August 12, 242,700 people, including 18,000 children, remain living in the government-controlled areas of Donetsk Oblast. This was reported by Dmytro Petlin, head of the division of operational and duty service, communication, warning and informing the population of the Department of Civil Protection, Mobilization and Defense of the Donetsk Regional Military Administration.
The largest number of children is currently in Kramatorsk community (5400), Sloviansk community (5300) and Druzhkivka (1600).
More than 20,000 people, including 82 children, still live in the area of active hostilities, which covers the territory of 18 communities.
In 9 settlements where families with children are being forcibly evacuated, 280 children remain.
Over the past week, 196 children and their families were forcibly evacuated from the settlements where such evacuations are ongoing. There are still 280 children in the 9 settlements where forced evacuation of families with children was announced, most of them in the city of Dobropillya.
As of today, the list of settlements where families with children will be forcibly evacuated has been expanded. There are currently 1150 minors living in 14 settlements of Belozersk and Dobropolye communities.
Dmytro Pozharsky, head of the social services division of the Department of Social Protection of the Donetsk Regional State Administration, once again urged people not to endanger themselves and their children and to agree to evacuate.
In recent days, the number of people who have decided to leave has doubled, as evidenced by the number of calls to the transit hub. The number of people in need of free accommodation has also increased. Over the week, 97 people were accommodated free of charge, including 11 people with limited mobility and 21 children. The evacuation and free accommodation of those in need continues.
