A series of career guidance events took place in Donetsk Oblast as part of the project “Our Donetsk Oblast. Our Home. Our Fortress.” Over the past week, 10th and 11th-grade students from general secondary schools across the region had the opportunity to speak with representatives of the Military Institute of Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv.
The events generated significant interest: 988 students participated in the online meetings. This figure demonstrates the high level of interest among Donetsk region youth in choosing a career path related to service in the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
The project, initiated by the head of the Donetsk Regional State Administration, Vadym Filashkin, continues to serve as a vital bridge between young people, the educational community, and the Defenders of Ukraine.
The Department of Education and Science of the Regional State Administration supported the initiative of the leading military institution of higher education to show high school students that the modern army is not just about weapons, but also about knowledge, analytics, responsibility, and high professionalism. During the meetings, speakers explained that studying at VIKNU opens the door to professional opportunities in the fields of international law, finance, military journalism, psychology, political science, and logistics.
Prospective applicants were shown firsthand that today’s officer is not only a soldier but also a member of the nation’s intellectual elite.
“Many graduates are currently facing the choice of their future profession. We sought to show that a military career is a space for realizing one’s abilities, knowledge, and most ambitious aspirations,” the organizers noted.
The meetings took place in the format of an active dialogue. Participants received answers to questions about admission requirements, the specifics of training, and the prospects available to certified military specialists.
