As part of the national project “Side by Side: United Communities,” a memorial space was unveiled in the village of Onufriivka, Kirovohrad Oblast, dedicated to the defenders of the Andriivka Rural Territorial Community who gave their lives for Ukraine’s freedom, independence, and future.
Members of the Andriivka community who were able to attend took part in the opening ceremony. The Andriivka rural territorial community was officially represented by Olena Nikitina, head of the Andriivka rural military administration.
Unfortunately, due to their advanced age, the parents of the fallen heroes were unable to attend the event. Nevertheless, on this day, the memory of their sons was honored with special reverence, gratitude, and respect.
Due to constant shelling, the difficult security situation, and the forced displacement of most residents of the Andriivka community, it is currently impossible to create such a memorial space on their native soil. Yet the war cannot deprive us of what matters most—the memory of our heroes.
Thanks to the support of our partner community—the Onufriivka settlement community—a place has been created where everyone can honor the soldiers’ heroism, lay flowers, and bow their heads in gratitude for their sacrifice.
The Onufriivka community took on the organization, production, and installation of the memorial structures, investing in this cause not only labor and time, but also sincere compassion and human warmth. This gesture has become a true example of unity, mutual support, and solidarity among Ukrainian communities.
During the event, those in attendance honored the memory of the fallen defenders with a moment of silence and laid flowers at the memorial displays and the monument to the fallen soldiers.
The Andriivka rural community expresses its sincere gratitude to the Onufriivka settlement community for their compassion, open hearts, sincere support, and assistance in creating this memorial space, which has become a symbol of our shared memory and gratitude.
