I am a single father, raising and caring for my six-year-old child with a disability. I am temporarily unemployed. Do I have the right to a care allowance?
Yes, you do.
A supplement to state social assistance is provided for caring for a child with a disability under 18 years of age. This benefit is granted to one of the parents, adoptive parents, guardians, or custodians who are not employed, not studying in professional (vocational), professional pre-higher, or higher education institutions (except part-time studies), not serving in the military, not holding an elected position, and actually providing care for a child with a disability under 18 years of age.
A single father is defined as a father who is not married to the child’s mother and whose paternity is established in the child’s birth certificate or recognized by a court decision.
The procedure for granting the care supplement for a child with a disability is regulated by the Resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine dated February 3, 2021, No. 79 (https://t1p.de/9cgju).
