The thematic direction of the numismatic series "Armed Forces of Ukraine," which honors Ukrainian weaponry and its creators, has been enriched with a new commemorative coin – "Ukrainian Cotton. Self-Propelled Artillery System 'Bohdana'."

It is dedicated to the self-propelled artillery system (SPAS) "Bohdana," which is currently one of the key elements of the artillery potential of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

This 155-mm howitzer on a wheeled chassis became the first Ukrainian SPAS developed according to NATO standards. It underwent its combat baptism in 2022 during the battle for Snake Island, demonstrating effective fire support for Ukrainian troops.

What does the commemorative coin look like?

On its obverse, there is an outline of Snake Island, which was successfully liberated with the fire support of the self-propelled artillery system "Bohdana." Near the island are stylized snakes leaving the territory, symbolizing the enemy's retreat.

On the reverse – the SPAS "Bohdana" at the moment of combat deployment on a steppe landscape. In the background of the coin is the silhouette of the portrait of Bohdan Khmelnytsky, symbolizing the indomitable spirit of the Ukrainian military and the historical axis that unites the past and present in the struggle for independence.

The design of the coin was created by artists Volodymyr Taran, Oleksandr Kharuk, and Serhiy Kharuk.

The nominal value of the coin is 5 hryvnias, with a mintage of up to 75,000 pieces in souvenir packaging).
