On October 1, Ukraine will celebrate the Day of Defenders of Ukraine, a holiday that has gained particular relevance during the full-scale Russian invasion.
This holiday is a symbol of gratitude to all those who risk their lives for the sake of security and peace in the country. On this day, we honor not only the military, but also all those who are fighting for Ukraine's independence, sovereignty and territorial integrity.
On the occasion of the Day of Defenders of Ukraine, we are telling you about those who defend the independence and territorial integrity of Ukraine.
From the day of its creation to the present day, the National Police of Ukraine in Donetsk region has been protecting people, maintaining order, and, since the beginning of the invasion, repelling the aggressor.
It is here, where the most active hostilities are taking place, that the slogan "To serve and protect" has become the embodiment of the mission carried out by the men and women who serve in the police of Donetsk region.
The Joint Assault Brigade of the National Police of Ukraine "Luty", units of the Rapid Action Corps, and the Donetsk Police Rifle Battalion are bravely holding back the enemy on the front line. They, along with the combat units of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, are honorably defending our country. At the same time, the police continue to perform their functions even in the most dangerous communities, detecting sabotage and reconnaissance groups, fighting looting and other crimes.
The White Angel evacuation teams, which first appeared in the Donetsk region, in the town of Maryinka, have become truly legendary during the war. White Angels are often the only ones who can help people evacuate from settlements on the front line. Under fire, often risking their lives, police evacuation teams rescue adults and children, giving them hope for life and the future.
In addition, police officers document Russian crimes on a daily basis, help the wounded after shelling of cities and villages in Donetsk region, and assist the State Emergency Service in eliminating the consequences of shelling and detecting explosive devices.
