Very often, people arriving at evacuation points do not have any documents with them. Some lost them during shelling, others simply did not have time to take them with them in the rush. At such moments, it is especially important that there are people who provide support – people who help to complete the necessary paperwork and accompany people to government agencies.
There is a transit center in the Kharkiv region that has become a key link in this system. Every day, it receives people who are forced to leave their homes due to constant shelling. Many of them are residents of those settlements in the Donetsk region that are currently under particularly heavy fire.
The center is equipped so that people can feel safe immediately upon arrival. On average, they stay here for 1-2 days: they register, receive basic assistance, support from social workers, doctors, and volunteers, and then leave for more peaceful regions. Those who need to complete paperwork or resolve temporary residence issues stay longer.
This is what you will see in the video: volunteers take evacuees to services where they will help them restore their documents so that they can then receive the necessary services.
Evacuation is not just about transporting people; it is the daily work of a large team that ensures that everyone gets through the most dangerous part of their journey as safely as possible.
Do not delay your decision to evacuate.
