Igor Gayevy appointed as the new director of the Department of Education and Science of the Donetsk Regional State Administration

By order of the head of the Donetsk Regional State Administration, the head of the Donetsk Regional Military Administration, Vadym Filashkin, Igor Gayevy was appointed director of the Department of Education and Science of the Regional State Administration.

The new head of the department was introduced to the heads of educational institutions in the region and the education authorities of local communities by the deputy head of the Regional State Administration, Oleksandr Shevchenko.

Igor Gayevy has a military and historical education and is a professional in the management of educational institutions. He has many years of experience in teaching and management, having worked as a history teacher in schools in Bakhmut and as a lecturer and head of departments in the field of vocational education.

Since 2019, he has headed the Bakhmut Center for Vocational and Technical Education. With the start of the Russian Federation's military aggression against Ukraine, he ensured the preservation of the team and successfully relocated the institution to the village of Hoscha in the Rivne region. The institution not only survived. The team and students continued the educational process, actively joined in volunteer assistance to the Ukrainian army, and the institution itself became an important part of the educational life of the host community.

Igor Gayevy's professional activities have been recognized with state and departmental awards, including the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Award, the "Distinguished Educator" badge, and awards from the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine and the Donetsk Regional Military Administration.

During the presentation, the key tasks facing the education sector in Donetsk Oblast under martial law were outlined: preserving human resources, optimizing and reorganizing the network of institutions taking into account security challenges, further relocating institutions to safer regions, implementing modern management solutions, and preparing the education system for the post-war recovery of the region.

Education in Donetsk Oblast continues to operate under extremely difficult conditions. The main resource of the sector is people. Preserving them is a strategic priority for the regional authorities.
