Victoria Galavanova - participant in the 2025 regional competition “Woman of Donetsk Region,” nomination “Heart that Gives Family”
Victoria Zhorzhivna Galavanova is a teacher at a family-type orphanage in Mariupol, Donetsk region, a mother and mentor who has devoted her entire life to orphans and children deprived of parental care.
The family-type children's home based on the family of Viktoria Zhorzhivna and Allan Gersanovich Galavanov was established in February 2021 in Mariupol. Earlier, Viktoria Galavanova had adopted five children.
Before the full-scale invasion of Ukraine by the Russian Federation, the Galavanovs, who are foster parents, lived with their 10 children in Mariupol, Donetsk Oblast. Due to the Russian Federation's military aggression against Ukraine, active hostilities, and the occupation of Mariupol, the family was forced to leave their home and evacuate to a safer place in order to protect the lives of their minor children. In March 2022, they relocated to Germany, where they lived until mid-2025. This summer, the foster parents decided to return to Ukraine and open their hearts to three more minors who are wards of the Kryla Nadiyi (Wings of Hope) municipal institution of the Mariupol City Council.
Victoria Galavanova's activities are of great social importance: she cooperates with educational and social institutions, actively supports the idea of developing family forms of upbringing, shares her experience, inspires other women to open their hearts to children in need of a family, and sets an example for many other families. Her story is one of faith, strength, and endless maternal warmth that warms not only her children but also everyone who knows her.
