Regional competition “Woman of Donetsk Region - 2025.” Nomination “Creator of Change and Opportunities”

 Yulia Tymchak – participant in the 2025 regional competition “Woman of Donetsk Region,” nominated in the category “Creator of Change and Opportunities” 

She works as the director of the municipal institution “Nikolskaya General Education School I-III Levels No. 1 named after Yakimenko A.D. of the Nikolskaya Village Council of the Donetsk Region,” a base school in the Mariupol district of the Donetsk region.

She has risen through the ranks in education from laboratory assistant to director. The Nikolskaya base school currently combines formal and informal education. It holds events and teaches children about gender equality, sustainable development goals, environmental awareness, critical thinking, and media literacy.

Yulia is a mother of three children (one of whom has a disability) and the wife of a soldier in the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

She has been actively involved in civic activities as the head of the Charivni Runi public organization since 2015. Over the years, Yulia and her team have successfully implemented more than 60 social action projects in and for the Donetsk region. Areas of work: Lemkos, Ecology, Youth, Culture, Education.

During the full-scale invasion, Yulia and her team of volunteers from the Charivni Runi NGO implemented 13 humanitarian projects worth UAH 1.5 million for the residents of Donetsk Oblast.

Currently, social projects have been implemented in IDP shelters and public spaces in Ivano-Frankivsk, aimed at helping vulnerable groups of the population. Thanks to these projects, a favorable educational and cultural environment is being created in the ICP and the Center for Social Integration by arranging spaces and holding master classes and workshops that help IDPs adapt and socialize in their new host community. The volunteer works to create comfortable conditions for learning and leisure: these include environmental initiatives, art therapy, sewing courses, children's activities, and many other interesting things for children and adults.

The Lemko Ecological Youth Cultural and Educational (LEMKO) Center, created by the public organization “ChaRi,” has become a prominent center of extracurricular education in the Zvanivska community. as a youth platform for rural youth and women, combining the promotion of authentic crafts and modern technologies.

Even during a full-scale invasion, Yulia proves that culture and traditions are extremely important!
