Olena Chuntuk - participant of the regional competition "Woman of Donetsk Region" in 2025, nomination "Creator of Changes and Opportunities"
Olena is a chemistry and physics teacher from Krasnohorivka, Maryinka community, whose life story demonstrates incredible strength of spirit and the ability to find her calling even in the most difficult circumstances. A woman who dreamed of becoming a research chemist found herself in teaching thanks to the trials of war and her inner calling to serve children.
The uniqueness of her story lies in her ability to transform personal losses into professional victories. Having lost her home and the opportunity to study science because of the war, Olena did not break down, but found a new purpose in teaching the younger generation.
In 2022, after leaving her destroyed community, she started all over again: she received a second degree in physics and astronomy from Berdiansk Pedagogical University, graduating with honors.
"It is my work that currently distracts me from the war," Olena admits. This phrase reveals her inner motivation: to find meaning and joy in her daily work with children, despite personal losses. She believes that her students will be the ones who will develop Ukraine and glorify it in the world.
Olena Chuntuk's story reminds us why it is so important to support women as agents of change and leadership. In times of war, it is women teachers who hold the educational line, form the generation of winners and preserve Ukrainian values.
