On October 22, 2025, an open lesson for children and adults on the topic "Island of Calm" was held at the educational location of the Kurakhivska territorial community in Dnipro.
The purpose of the event is to create a safe space for emotional relaxation, reduce anxiety, develop self-regulation skills and psychological resilience among participants.
The class was conducted by Svitlana Kryvenko, a psychologist at the educational location, who, based on her experience gained during trainings on stress management, resilience development and work with post-traumatic symptoms (organized by the Department of Education and Science of the Donetsk Regional State Administration in the Polish city of Goraets), prepared a series of interactive exercises on breathing, visualization, and body relaxation. Art therapy techniques were used, including drawing, working with color, and creating an "Island of Calm" on paper. Participants were able to express their emotions in a circle of trust and receive support.
The audience actively participated in the exercises, asked questions, and shared their feelings. The exercise with the "capsule of peace" was particularly enthusiastic, where everyone created their own symbolic place of safety.
According to the feedback, the participants noted that they felt relieved, calm, and were able to distract themselves from disturbing thoughts.
The specialists of the educational location continue to work systematically with community members temporarily staying in Dnipro, creating conditions for psychological support, recovery and strengthening of emotional resilience.
