In August, educational institutions of Donetsk Oblast joined the Memory of the Heart poetry festival dedicated to the Day of Remembrance of the Defenders of Ukraine who died in the struggle for the independence and sovereignty of our country. The festival was organized by the Donetsk Youth Palace "Yunist", a space where the patriotic consciousness of children and youth of Donetsk region is formed.
From August 12 to August 28, 2025, young talents and their mentors sent more than 130 poems from 60 educational institutions representing 23 communities in the region. Such a wide geography confirms that the memory of the Heroes unites Donetsk region.
The festival was held in three age categories and a separate category for teachers. The poems contained sincere confessions from children and adults alike: quiet sadness for the fallen, pride in the courage of the defenders, and unwavering faith in the Victory. The jury noted not only the authors' skill, but also the strength of emotion and deep sincerity of each line.
The participation of teachers was especially valuable. Their works proved that memory is a matter for all generations. Teachers set an example for their students, because it is adults who are responsible for ensuring that heroic stories do not disappear but are passed on from heart to heart.
The Heart's Memory Festival has become an event that united Donetsk Oblast around the main value of honoring those who gave their lives for the freedom and independence of Ukraine.
