Relocation and a New Job: Oksana’s Employment Story from Kramatorsk

Published 18 June 2026 year, 20:50

How do you start over in a new place when you are raising a child on your own? Oksana’s story is one of remarkable resilience — the kind that drives a mother to keep moving forward for her child’s sake — and of support that works even across hundreds of kilometers.

Oksana is a resident of Kramatorsk. She always worked hard to provide for her child. When she lost her job, she did not wait for circumstances to change and immediately turned to the specialists of the Kramatorsk Branch of the Donetsk Regional Employment Center.

However, the war changed everything. Due to the security situation, Oksana and her child were forced to evacuate. First, they moved to Irpin, and later to a modular housing community in Hostomel. Everything around them was unfamiliar, they had no social connections, and Oksana carried the enormous responsibility of caring for her child alone.

Yet she was not left to face these challenges by herself. Oksana maintained constant contact with her career advisor from Kramatorsk.

Despite the distance, employment service specialists continued to support her remotely. They searched for relevant job opportunities tailored to her new circumstances and local logistics, and arranged interviews with potential employers.

The primary goal was to help her find employment as quickly as possible so that her family could have a stable source of income. Oksana was ready to take action.

Their joint efforts and persistence paid off. At the end of May, Oksana successfully passed a job interview and was employed by the municipal enterprise Blahozelenbud.

This story demonstrates that modern employment services and an individual approach can overcome any distance.
