An auto speedway event took place at the “Girnyk” Stadium in Sheptytskyi, with internally displaced persons from Donetsk Oblast participating as part of the national project “Side by Side: United Communities.”

The high-speed races, the racers’ skill, and the intense competition on the track provided spectators with a thrilling experience. For our fellow citizens, it was an opportunity to take a break from their daily worries, spend time away from their usual routines, and get involved in the sporting life of the community that has become their temporary home.

Dmytro Shynkar, head of the “Unity” hub of the Pokrovska MBA in the city of Sheptytskyi, emphasized the importance of holding joint events to support internally displaced persons.

“For people who have left their homes because of the war, it’s important to have the opportunity to relax, gain new experiences, and feel like part of the host community. Such events bring positive emotions that can be shared with others; they unite people and provide support,” noted Dmytro Shynkar.

The “Side by Side: United Communities” project brings Ukrainian communities together, fostering partnership and mutual support. Joint events give Pokrov residents the opportunity to engage with the life of their partner community, discover new interests, experience positive emotions, and feel supported far from home.
