Preparing for the autumn-winter period is a top priority for Energoatom

Published 11 September 2025 year, 12:54

As the autumn and winter period approaches, Energoatom is making every effort to prepare all nine NPP units for full capacity operation.

Annual scheduled preventive maintenance and nuclear fuel reloading operations are an important component of safe and efficient operation of a nuclear power unit. The main task during the repair campaigns is to perform all the necessary work to ensure stable operation of the power units until the start of the next repair period.

Today, the preparation of power units at Ukrainian NPPs is carried out strictly according to the schedule approved by the Ministry of Energy of Ukraine. In particular, all nuclear fuel reloading and scheduled repairs are being successfully performed. Thus, scheduled preventive maintenance has been completed at six of the Company's power units. One power unit is in the process of completing scheduled repairs and is expected to be connected to the grid by the end of the month. Thus, starting from mid-October, all nine nuclear power units located in the territory controlled by Ukraine will operate at maximum capacity.

In addition to the technical preparation of the nuclear infrastructure, Energoatom has also managed to get rid of its dependence on Russian suppliers of nuclear fuel and spare parts. As a result, the Ukrainian nuclear power plant operator safely operates domestic power units, but without any influence from the aggressor country.

The emphasis on self-sufficiency and readiness of NPPs for the heating season confirms the ability of Energoatom to fully fulfill the tasks assigned to the Company even in the face of war and new challenges.

Responsible work of nuclear engineers ensures that Ukrainian NPPs will be able to go through the winter stably, ensuring energy security of Ukraine.
