Support That Works: How the Employment Service Helped Olena Return to Work

Published 03 June 2026 year, 16:45

Because of the war, Olena lost her job in education. Thanks to the support of the Employment Service, she not only found a new career path but also continued working in an institution that helps children. This is her story.

When it feels like your familiar professional path has come to an end, it is important to find people who can help you see new opportunities.

Olena from Kramatorsk has always loved working with children. She holds a higher pedagogical education degree and has many years of experience as a preschool educator and primary school teacher. However, due to the war and the transition of educational institutions to remote learning, she found herself unemployed.

Determined not to give up an active professional life, Olena turned to the Kramatorsk Branch of the Donetsk Regional Employment Center. During consultations with employment specialists, she shared her desire to continue working in a field related to children and education.

Employment Service specialists began searching for suitable job opportunities. When one of Kramatorsk’s kindergartens approached the branch looking for a facilities manager, Olena was offered the chance to try herself in a new role and complete on-the-job training.

She accepted the new challenge, successfully passed the interview, quickly mastered her new responsibilities during the training period, and was officially employed at the beginning of May.

The Employment Service is ready to support anyone who is looking for a job, considering a career change, or needs assistance in finding their place in the labor market.

If you are also searching for employment or thinking about changing your career path, reach out to us — finding a solution together is always easier.
