On February 10, representatives of the Donetsk Regional State Administration took part in the fifteenth meeting of the Commission on Hero Policy and Support for the Armed Forces of Ukraine of the Congress of Local and Regional Authorities under the President of Ukraine. The event was chaired by Iryna Vereshchuk, Deputy Head of the Office of the President of Ukraine.
The participants discussed a number of important issues, including the preservation of existing social guarantees for family members of deceased Heroes of the Heavenly Hundred and disabled participants of the Revolution of Dignity.
Particular attention was paid to the need to regulate the mechanism for reburying the fallen Defenders of Ukraine from territories under threat of occupation. The issue of providing state support to the families of the deceased and allocating places for reburial in areas with the status of military burials was also discussed.
During the meeting, the possibility of introducing a nationwide memorial lesson in secondary schools and other educational institutions was considered. The purpose of such a lesson is to honor the memory of the fallen heroes by familiarizing students with their biographies, life paths, and contributions to the defense of Ukraine.
Participants also discussed an initiative by the Pension Fund of Ukraine to develop a mechanism for the automatic calculation and payment of one-time cash assistance to combatants on Ukraine's Independence Day.

Thus, in 2025, UAH 1.9 billion was allocated from the regional budget for these needs, which is 34% of the total regional budget, and UAH 2.1 billion from the budgets of local communities in Donetsk Oblast. As of today, since the beginning of 2026, more than UAH 300 million has been allocated from the regional and community budgets to support Ukraine's security and defense forces.
