Burnt-out cars, destroyed houses, and shell craters in the middle of the streets. Enemy drones constantly circle overhead, and the rumble of explosions never ceases. This is what Mykolaivka looks like today—a city that the Russian army is turning into ruins. Risking their lives, police continue to evacuate local residents.
Mykolaivka is gradually becoming a ghost town. Every day, new destruction appears in the settlement, and utilities are down. In some parts of the city, it is already impossible to drive a car due to the proximity to the front line.
The “White Angels” leave their vehicle in a relatively safe spot and walk through the basements of buildings where, according to reports, people in need of evacuation are located. Every few meters, they have to drop to the ground as shells whistle overhead. The enemy is shelling the city with artillery. In addition, drones are buzzing overhead, so the group keeps their weapons at the ready.
However, after reaching several addresses, the police found no one there. Only in one of the basements did they find a couple who had been living there for two days. The man and woman weren’t prepared to leave, but the “White Angels” managed to convince them, and the couple asked for a day to pack.
On the outskirts of the city, where the danger is greatest, an elderly man was waiting for the police. “All the windows and doors in my apartment were blown out. I spent last night in the basement,” said the man who was rescued.
The police are urging citizens not to delay and to leave for safer regions, as evacuation from Mykolaivka is becoming increasingly difficult. Law enforcement officers are not stopping and continue to carry out rescue missions.
