The picturesque town of Perechyn hosted football and chess tournaments dedicated to the National Flag Day and Independence Day of Ukraine. The competitions became a real celebration of sports, strength of spirit, and community unity as part of the national project "Side by Side: United Communities".
Emotions, drive, and team spirit reigned on the football field and chessboard. The children competed not only for medals but also for a sense of unity, for the dream of a future without war, in a country under peaceful skies.
A special atmosphere was created by gymnasts from the Kramatorsk community, who opened the competition with bright demonstrations. Their performances became a real highlight of the tournament, gave the audience joy and proved once again that sport is an art of strength and beauty.
Footballers of the Kramatorsk community sports school won the honorable 3rd place among 8 teams, demonstrating courage, character and thirst for victory.
In chess, our young athletes also proved that the power of thought is no less important than muscle strength:
Maxim Kalashnikov - 1st place,
Dmitry Maryutichev - 2nd place.
It is symbolic that these competitions took place on the Flag Day and on the eve of Ukraine's Independence Day. Every pass, every combination and every victory was another confirmation: sport unites in the same way as the blue and yellow flag - it gives strength, faith and hope.
We thank the athletes, coaches and organizers for their inspiring emotions! Together we are strong!
However, the children did not only play sports. In between the competitions, the kids learned about the history of Zakarpattia and were charged with vivid impressions by visiting the ancient castle in Uzhhorod.
The children listened to fascinating stories about the life of the castle, its legends and mysterious secrets. They discovered the past centuries and seemed to be transported back in time to better understand the roots and strength of the Ukrainian land.
We are grateful to the hospitable Perechyn City Council for the opportunity for our children to change the environment, because they deserve time without airborne anxiety, peace and the opportunity to touch the beautiful even in difficult times.
