One of the most important attributes of statehood and a guarantor of Ukraine's security and freedom is its Armed Forces. On December 6, Ukrainians celebrate one of their most important national holidays — Armed Forces Day. Every day, thousands of Ukrainian Armed Forces soldiers defend the country on the front lines, guarding its borders on land, at sea, and in the air. On the occasion of the Day of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, we invite you to learn about the branches of the Ukrainian army.
The Air Force is one of the main branches of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, designed to protect the country's airspace.
The Air Force includes the following branches: anti-aircraft missile and radio-technical troops, as well as separate military units and subunits of special forces — reconnaissance, engineering, radiation, chemical and bacteriological protection, communications, automated control systems and radio-technical support, radio-electronic warfare, meteorological support, material and technical and medical support units, and others.
One of the important stages in the development of the Air Force was the acquisition of F-16 aircraft, which significantly increased Ukraine's defense capabilities. These multi-role fighters allow for high-precision strikes on enemy ground targets, effective combat against enemy aircraft, and air support for other types and branches of the armed forces. The use of F-16s in the war against Russia has become a symbol of the modernization of the Ukrainian army and an example of the support of the international community.
The achievements of the airmen in this war include the destruction of hundreds of enemy aircraft, helicopters, and drones, as well as the elimination of important strategic enemy targets.
Constant training and improvement of combat tactics and techniques allow the Air Force to maintain a high level of combat readiness and effectiveness.
