Employment for internally displaced persons: an individual approach and specialist support

Published 03 June 2025 year, 11:00

The life of Yaroslava Pogorelova, a resident of a small village in the Bakhmut district, changed dramatically after the start of hostilities. Her native land was occupied, and she was forced to leave her home and job at the Toretsk City Hospital, where she worked as a junior nurse.

Finding herself in a new city without any means of subsistence, Yaroslava turned to the employment center, looking not just for a job, but for a new start in life.

While searching for work, she actively participated in seminars and training sessions, received help in writing her resume, and studied the training programs offered by the employment service. Such comprehensive support allowed her not only to maintain her self-confidence but also to increase her chances of successful employment.

The result was not long in coming. The Slovyansk City Clinical Hospital turned to the employment center for assistance in filling a vacancy for a “housekeeper nurse.” Yaroslava was immediately interested in this opportunity. Her experience, well-written resume, and desire to work impressed the employer. After a successful interview, Yaroslava was invited to undergo on-the-job training with the prospect of permanent employment. She is now working and confidently rebuilding her professional life in a new place.
