On 18 June 2026, the first Prayer Breakfast for Ukraine’s frontline territories took place in Dnipro, organised on the initiative of the Inter-factional Parliamentary Group ‘Frontline Territories’ and the All-Ukrainian Association of Local Self-Government Bodies ‘Ukrainian Association of District and Regional Councils’, with the support of the Ukrainian Prayer Breakfast Movement.

A delegation from Donetsk Oblast, led by Oleksandr Shevchenko, Deputy Head of the Donetsk Oblast State Administration, took part in the event. The delegation comprised representatives of the structural units of the oblast state administration, district state administrations and military administrations of the oblast.

The prayer breakfast brought together representatives of state and local government bodies, the Ukrainian Defence Forces, religious organisations, the clergy, the voluntary sector, chaplains and veterans.

During the event, discussions centred on the resilience of frontline communities, humanitarian support for the population, inter-regional cooperation and the role of spiritual values in strengthening social unity under martial law.

Particular attention was paid to the role of frontline regions as a key factor in national resilience and state security. The need to support community residents, military personnel and government officials working under the challenging conditions of wartime was emphasised.

Participants noted the symbolic significance of holding the First Prayer Breakfast for Ukraine’s frontline territories in the year marking the 35th anniversary of Ukraine’s independence. It was emphasised that such events promote public dialogue, strengthen mutual understanding and foster unity around the values of faith, responsibility and service.

Representatives from the Donetsk region joined the discussion on the pressing challenges facing the region’s communities and exchanged experiences with colleagues from other regions regarding support for the population, community development and the strengthening of inter-regional cooperation.

Following the meeting, the importance of continued cooperation between state authorities, local government, civil society and religious organisations was emphasised, with a view to supporting Ukraine’s frontline territories and strengthening societal resilience in the context of the war.
