On September 25, an online presentation was held for the project "Women’s Leadership for Shared Security: Localization of 1325 in Eastern Ukraine." The project is being implemented within the framework of the UN Women Ukraine Strategic Note (2025–2029) with financial support from the governments of Finland, Austria, Denmark, France, Norway, Poland, and Sweden, and in partnership with the Ukrainian Women’s Fund.
Participants included representatives of state and local government bodies, regional "1325 Coalitions," and women’s human rights organizations; experts on the "Women, Peace, and Security" agenda; and representatives of youth organizations from the Dnipropetrovsk, Donetsk, Zaporizhzhia, Poltava, and Sumy regions.
The presentation outlined the project’s goals, objectives, and key areas of focus, as well as planned activities. Special attention was paid to the effective implementation and monitoring of measures, the identification of priority work areas, and the conditions necessary for the sustainable implementation of the initiative at regional and local levels.
The project aims to support the implementation of the National Action Plan for UN Security Council Resolution 1325 ("Women, Peace, and Security") at regional and local levels, while strengthening women's participation in decision-making processes, peacebuilding, and ensuring community security. The participation of representatives from the Donetsk region in such events fosters the exchange of experience and the development of partnerships among government authorities, the civil society sector, and other stakeholders, while also drawing greater attention to issues of women's leadership, community safety, and the localization of the "Women, Peace, and Security" agenda.
