Educators from Donetsk Oblast participated in the International Forum “Pilot Implementation of Specialized Education: Academic Lyceums,” organized by the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine in Kyiv.
Representatives of the Ministry of Education and Science, members of parliament, international experts, lyceum directors, and teachers gathered for a two-day forum to discuss the initial results of the pre-pilot, share experiences, and outline the next steps for implementing the specialized education reform in upper secondary schools.
The forum’s program included discussions on changes in high school, new curricula for academic lyceums, professional development for teachers, the modern educational environment in lyceums, and international experience in implementing reforms.
Educators from all regions of Ukraine attended the discussions, including representatives from pre-pilot educational institutions and those who will begin implementing specialized upper-secondary schools in their communities starting September 1, 2026.
International partners shared valuable reform experiences and expressed their gratitude and unwavering support to Ukrainian educators for their resilience, professionalism, and perseverance in working under the extremely difficult conditions of martial law.
Lively discussions, deliberations on pressing issues related to the implementation of the reform, and teamwork made it possible to assess the results of the work carried out, identify additional strategic and operational goals and objectives for all participants in the senior specialized school reform, and develop ways to achieve them.
Senior specialized schools are about giving our children the opportunity to choose their own path of development, about improving the quality of education with an emphasis on applied knowledge and skills, and about creating a school that students enjoy—a modern educational environment where children learn with interest and enthusiasm, which is the key to success!
