Druzhkivka: occupied in spring–summer 2014, liberated in July; since the start of the full-scale war, under constant strikes, yet doctors, rescuers, utility workers, and volunteers continue their work.
Kostiantynivka: in 2022 became a rear base for the military and a shelter for thousands of civilians; this year the city has faced intensified attacks, and since May has been in the combat zone, with services providing relentless support.
Kramatorsk: endured occupation, became the temporary administrative center of the region and the main logistics hub; withstands daily shelling and destruction.
Pokrovsk: received hundreds of evacuees daily; since summer 2024 — scene of active battles and constant strikes, with the enemy pressing, yet the defense holds.
Sloviansk: the first city to take the blow in 2014; since 2022 it has been on the frontline, hosting the region’s only maternity hospital.
