During a working visit to Kropyvnytskyi, Ihor Haievyi, Director of the Department of Education and Science of the Donetsk Regional State Administration, visited the relocated Donetsk Regional Center for Tourism and Local History for Schoolchildren.

The center was relocated to the Kirovohrad region in the early days of Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine. During this time, the staff has managed to ensure the stable operation of the facility, focusing its activities, in particular, on working with children from among the internally displaced.

Today, the center combines remote formats with in-person work. Classes for children are held in rented premises, where teachers work and the center’s material and technical resources are housed.

Despite the war, the center continues to develop its unique activities—organizing orienteering competitions, hiking events, and military-patriotic training.

Importantly, these activities are reinforced by cooperation with educational institutions in the Kirovohrad region, where many children from Donetsk Oblast study, as well as with Donetsk State University of Internal Affairs.

During the meeting, Ihor Haievyi discussed with the staff further support for the center, issues related to the development and preservation of its facilities and equipment, as well as opportunities to expand the center’s activities.
