On May 23, 2014, a subversive group of Russian-terrorist forces attacked a checkpoint of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
According to the soldiers of the 93rd Separate Mechanized Brigade, on May 23, 2014, at 15:00, a patrol car and a collection van approached the checkpoint. At that time, the Ukrainian soldiers were fortifying their positions. Armed men got out of the vehicles and threw noise grenades, and then opened direct fire at the soldiers.
On this day, the steppes of Dobropillya claimed the first Kholodnoyarsk soldiers. The Ukrainian military won the battle, but unfortunately lost their comrades: Yuriy Sitiaev and Andriy Abrosimov. Two weeks later, Andriy Derylo died in hospital from his wounds.
For their personal courage and heroism in defending the state sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine, loyalty to the military oath and unbreakable spirit, the victims were awarded the Order "For Courage" of the III degree (posthumously).
