For people who have been forced to leave their homes, a job means far more than just a source of income. It is an opportunity to regain a sense of stability, confidence in tomorrow, and gradually build a new life. It is especially important when employment goes hand in hand with solving the housing issue — one of the most painful challenges for internally displaced persons.

This comprehensive approach is now being implemented through cooperation between the Donetsk Regional Employment Service and the Lamella furniture factory in the city of Tiachiv, Zakarpattia region. It is an example of responsible business that goes beyond job creation and truly takes care of people.

As part of this partnership, more than 30 internally displaced persons have already received not only jobs but also accommodation. The Employment Service supports each candidate at every stage: informing them about current vacancies, organizing on-site and online employer presentations, and assisting with paperwork. To make an informed decision, people can personally see the production facilities, working conditions, and temporary housing, and communicate directly with company representatives.

For its part, the Lamella factory takes responsibility for organizing relocation, accommodation, and adaptation of new employees.

Last week, internally displaced persons Nataliia and Eduard visited the factory for the first time during a presentation meeting. What they saw convinced them that they had made the right choice — today they are already working as packers and mastering a new profession. For Nataliia, this is her first professional experience, and for Eduard, it is a chance to start life from scratch after forced displacement. Eduard’s family is raising five children, and to support them the employer took care of essential needs by providing dairy products and hygiene supplies.

Olha from Rubizhne, Luhansk region, has also joined the company’s team. Behind her are multiple displacements, diverse work experience, and the status of a combat veteran. Live communication with factory representatives, an open atmosphere, and sincere support became decisive — today she is also working as a packer.

Oleksandr, a resident of Lyman, moved to Tiachiv together with his family. While processing information from the Social Protection Fund for Persons with Disabilities about people in need of employment, Employment Service specialists contacted him and invited him to take part in an online meeting with a representative of Lamella State Enterprise. The company consistently implements an equal opportunities policy, including for people with disabilities. After learning about the conditions, Oleksandr and his wife Olena decided to relocate.

Once agreements were reached, the employer organized a meeting for the family at the railway station and transportation to their new place of residence. Currently, the couple works as wood product assemblers.

All IDPs who recently joined the factory team received advance payments to help them settle in more quickly and feel financial stability.

At Lamella, they are convinced that even without prior experience, a person can realize their potential if given a chance. New employees are trained directly at the workplace, supported during adaptation, and helped to become part of the team.

The Lamella factory remains open to cooperation and continues recruiting staff. Currently, there are vacancies for maintenance mechanics, seamstresses, packers, carpenters, repair fitters, electricians, and other specialists.
