In 2026, rates more than doubled compared to 2025
CT diagnostics are critically important for the treatment of diseases, as the results of the examination directly influence the subsequent plan for providing medical care to the patient. The significant increase in rates for CT scans, including those with contrast, is intended to ensure that patients can receive the necessary examinations in a timely manner and at no additional cost under the Medical Guarantees Program (MGP). Under the MGP, the National Health Service of Ukraine reimburses providers for both outpatient and inpatient CT scans. Below is a detailed breakdown of the rates for outpatient CT diagnostics.
In fact, the NSZU’s reimbursement for computed tomography in 2026 has more than doubled compared to 2025. Specifically:
- the rate for a CT scan without contrast rose from 542 UAH to 1,193.5 UAH;
- the rate for a CT scan with contrast rose from 1,217 UAH to 2,387 UAH.
If, for medical reasons, a patient needs to undergo CT scans of several anatomical regions on the same day, the National Health Service of Ukraine (NSZU) covers the cost of each scan. In this case, adjustment factors are applied: 1.0 for the first anatomical region, 0.9 for the second, and 0.8 for the third and each subsequent region.
How does this work in practice?
Example 1. Two CT scans without contrast agent
The rate for one CT scan without contrast agent is 1,193.50 UAH.
- First anatomical area — 1,193.50 UAH × 1.0 = 1,193.50 UAH;
- Second anatomical zone — 1,193.50 UAH × 0.9 = 1,074.15 UAH.
Total amount the National Health Service of Ukraine (NSZU) will pay the facility — 2,267.65 UAH.
Example 2. Three CT scans with contrast
The rate for one CT scan with contrast is 2,387.00 UAH.
- First anatomical zone — 2,387.00 UAH × 1.0 = 2,387.00 UAH;
- Second anatomical zone — 2,387.00 UAH × 0.9 = 2,148.30 UAH;
- third anatomical zone — 2,387.00 UAH × 0.8 = 1,909.60 UAH.
In total, the National Health Service of Ukraine (NSZU) will pay the facility 6,444.90 UAH.
Since the beginning of the year, according to ESOS data as of June 14, 2026, patients have received 187,100 computed tomography (CT) services under the Medical Guarantees Program: 104,800 non-contrast scans and 82,300 contrast-enhanced scans.
To receive a CT scan funded by the state budget as provided for by the Medical Guarantees Program—that is, free of charge—you can use an electronic referral from a specialist or your attending physician at a facility that has a contract with the National Health Service of Ukraine (NSZU) under the “Prevention, Diagnosis, Monitoring, and Treatment in Outpatient Settings” package.
