On the eve of Easter, as part of the national project “Side by Side: United Communities!”, a culinary workshop was held for residents of the Sartana settlement community in Donetsk Oblast, the Rivne rural community in Volyn Oblast, and the Staryi Sambir urban community in Lviv Oblast.

At the beginning of the event, a moment of silence was observed to honor the memory of all the defenders who gave their lives for our freedom. Their memory will live on forever!

Easter is a symbol of the rebirth of life, hope, and spiritual strength. In every family and every community, it has its own special traditions that are passed down from generation to generation.

At the culinary workshop, participants learned about the Easter traditions of Ukrainians of Greek descent, as well as the authentic beauty of the Sartana Easter cake, which embodies the warmth of many generations, and the secrets of its preparation. After all, this is how culture, family memory, and the spiritual unity of the community are preserved.

Master baker Nonna Simiyon shared her great-grandmother’s unique family recipe and taught those present the finer points of working with dough. She demonstrated every stage of creating the festive baked goods,  and then, together with the participants, carefully assembled Easter baskets to send a piece of home comfort to the soldiers.

Let us remember: when we cook using our ancestors’ recipes, we keep their legacy alive. When we share our experiences with our neighbors, we build the future together.
