During the full-scale war, the issue of barrier-free accessibility became even more important. We understand that barrier-free access is not just about physical access to ramps or elevators. It is about creating an environment where everyone feels like a full-fledged part of society.
Despite the temporary occupation of the Sartana community, the Sartana Military Settlement Administration continues to take care of its residents and is implementing a new program called "Barrier-Free". This program allows us to provide services today in preparation for the future de-occupation and reconstruction. It ensures that every resident of the community, regardless of their physical or social characteristics, will have equal access to services, information and opportunities.
On August 19, 2025, the first meeting of the Barrier-Free Council was held online under the chairmanship of the chairman of the commission, the head of the Sartana settlement military administration Oleksandr Kurkcha.
During the meeting, key issues were discussed:
- Current activities of the Barrier-Free Council.
- Consideration and discussion of the draft Program of the Sartanska settlement territorial community for the implementation of the National Strategy for the creation of barrier-free space in Ukraine for the period up to 2030.
- Key goals and priority steps for implementing the program.
Even in the most difficult times, the Sartana settlement military administration continues to work to ensure that every member of the community feels supported and has equal opportunities. This is an important step towards building a future where everyone feels like a full-fledged part of society.
After all, accessibility should be the norm for everyone - regardless of age, health, social status or place of residence!
