In 2025, the vocational training program for veterans in the Vocational Education and Training Centers (VETCs) of the State Employment Service has already covered over 2,700 individuals, including 275 people with war-related disabilities.
Most often, combatants are referred for retraining or skills enhancement through the Donetsk Regional Employment Center. Other leading regions include Lviv, Ivano-Frankivsk, Ternopil, and Rivne.
Veterans actively choose from 467 educational programs — more than 2,400 individuals have enrolled in these, while 243 are studying to acquire new professions.
The number of men participating in the program has surpassed 2,500, while 155 women veterans have joined as well.
There are eight Vocational Education and Training Centers in the Employment Service system — located in Odesa, Dnipro, Kharkiv, Poltava, Sumy, Rivne, Lviv, and Ivano-Frankivsk.
Since the beginning of the year, the Poltava VETC has had the largest number of graduates — nearly 870, which accounts for one-third of the total. Other institutions with the highest number of participants with combatant status include the Ivano-Frankivsk center with over 400 trainees, and the Lviv and Rivne centers, each with more than 300 veterans.
The most popular profession among combatants remains psychology, along with first aid training and civil protection — accounting for 1,100 people, or 42% of all participants.
There is also significant demand for training in other areas such as vehicle driving, UAV operation, entrepreneurship and business planning, and IT.
