As part of the national project “Side by Side: United Communities,” the Shakhiv community joined in a vibrant and heartfelt celebration—the Borscht Festival—in the village of Kropyvna in the Cherkasy region.

This day became a true celebration of Ukrainian traditions, culinary artistry, creativity, and the unity of the Shakhivska and Zolotonosha communities. Borscht is not just a Ukrainian dish. It is a symbol of family warmth, hospitality, hard work, remembrance, and love for one’s homeland.🇺🇦

A special highlight of the festival was the five locations in the starosta districts of the Shakhiv community and the village of Kropyvna, each of which showcased its own unique atmosphere, traditions, and creativity.

At each location, visitors could explore the creative work of the craftswomen from the starosta districts: crafts, needlework, decorative arts, and pieces into which a piece of the Ukrainian woman’s soul has been poured. Each piece on display is a continuation of our traditions and proof that Ukrainian culture lives on and thrives even in the most challenging times.

And the star of the festival, of course, was borscht! Guests had the opportunity to taste different variations of this beloved Ukrainian dish, compare recipes, and see for themselves that every homemaker has her own special secret to making it.

We sincerely thank the cooks from the village of Kropyvna and the cooks from the village of Shakove for their incredible hard work, dedication, and love that went into preparing the meals. It is thanks to your golden hands, skill, and generosity that the festive table was so delicious and truly Ukrainian!
