As part of the national project "Side by Side: Cohesive Communities," an extremely warm and inspiring meeting was held in the format of an online reading marathon. The hearts and voices of literature lovers from different parts of Ukraine were united:
- The Siverska community of Donetsk Oblast was represented by the Centralized Library System.
- The Mukachevo community of Zakarpattia region was represented by the Mukachevo Dukhnovych Library.
- The Onokivska community of Zakarpattia region was represented by the Library Hub of the Onokivska community.
At the marathon, books became a bridge between distances. Participants read their favorite poems and prose fragments, shared their impressions and discovered new authors.
The marathon featured works by Lina Kostenko, Taras Shevchenko, Vasyl Symonenko, Oksana Zabuzhko, as well as original poems by our guests. The words were inspiring, supportive, and helped us to believe in the power of literature and unity.
The marathon was attended by sincere, active, inspired book lovers - library users, including internally displaced persons from the cities of Zaporizhzhia, Polohy (Zaporizhzhia region), and Nova Kakhovka (Kherson region). Their warm words and open hearts created an atmosphere in which everyone felt like a part of a large reading family.
Reading aloud not only brings people closer together, but also gives them a sense of a common goal - to preserve the cultural heritage and create a future where kindness, mutual respect and love for the native word reign.
The project "Side by Side: Cohesive Communities" proves once again that even when we are hundreds of kilometers apart, we can be close - in words, in creativity, in common dreams.
