






Yuriy Savchenko occupies a special place among Donetsk region artists. He is a member of the National Union of Artists of Ukraine, an academician of the Ukrainian Technological Academy, and an honorary citizen of the city of Sloviansk.
Yuriy Savchenko was born on October 2, 1935, and lived and worked in Sloviansk for most of his life. He received his professional art education at the Kharkiv Art School. For over twenty years, Yuriy Savchenko worked in the field of monumental art, creating decorative paintings for the interiors of public and administrative buildings in Sloviansk and Sviatohirsk. For many years, he taught fine arts in an art studio, and his students became professional artists, designers, and architects.
Today, Yuriy Savchenko is recognized in Ukrainian painting as a master of easel watercolor and oil painting. His work has a unique artistic style, a high culture of color, and a wide variety of compositional solutions, which are combined with the ability to convey a rich palette of feelings, preserved and embodied on canvas. A special place in the artist's creative work is occupied by works related to his native Slobozhanshchyna – the landscapes depicted by the artist are full of warmth and tranquility, spiritual harmony.
The artist was actively involved in exhibitions, and his works were shown at numerous national and international exhibitions, including abroad, where he promoted Ukrainian art. The artist's works occupy a worthy place in museums in Ukraine, in particular the Kharkiv Art Museum, the Donetsk Regional Art Museum, and the Slovyansk Local History Museum, and are represented in private collections in Ukraine and abroad.
Yuriy Savchenko passed away in 2018, leaving behind a significant creative legacy—the artist created more than two thousand paintings. This extraordinary productivity, which was characteristic of the artist, his love for his native Donetsk region, and his desire to recreate its unique beauty on canvas, can serve as an example for all creative personalities.
