Roman Polianskyi, an athlete from Donetsk oblast, won bronze at the World para rowing championships

On August 24-30, Amsterdam, the capital of the Netherlands, hosted the World Rowing Championships for athletes with musculoskeletal disorders, where Ukraine was represented by six competitors.

Two rowers from Donetsk oblast competed as members of the national team – they are honored masters of sports of Ukraine, scholarship recipients from the Donetsk regional state administration, and representatives of the Donetsk regional center for physical culture and sports for people with disabilities “Invasport,” as well as the cities of Bakhmut and Sloviansk.

Roman Polianskyi won a bronze medal in the men’s single sculls competition in the PR1M1x class. In the final race, he clocked a time of 9 minutes 01.38 seconds, finishing behind athletes from Great Britain and Australia, while beating competitors from France, Italy and Spain.

Iaroslav Koiuda, competing in the PR2Mix2x class, finished fifth alongside Anna Aisanova from the Volyn region in the mixed double sculls competition. The Ukrainian crew’s time in the final was 08:18.30.
