Athletes from Donetsk oblast won 12 medals at the European radio orienteering championship

In the second half of August, the European radio orienteering championship for adults, juniors and youth was held in Târgoviște, Romania.

The competition, which took place on challenging and technically demanding courses, brought together 306 athletes from 22 European countries, as well as invited participants from China.

Representing the Donetsk region as members of the Ukrainian national team were athletes from the Regional children’s and youth sports school and the Lyman city community and the “Fox” sports club.

Oleksii Ivanko, competing in the M21 category, won five gold and one silver medal. He took first place in both the individual and team standings at the 3.5 MHz and 144 MHz frequencies, and also finished first in radio orienteering and second in the sprint.

Anastasia Bondarchuk, competing in the W21 category, won “gold” in the team competition at 144 MHz, “silver” in the sprint, “bronze” in the individual competition at 144 MHz, and “bronze” in the team competition at 3.5 MHz.

Iryna Polubentseva became a two-time bronze medalist: in the individual competition in the W19 category for radio orienteering and in the team competition in the W21 category at 3.5 MHz.

Daria Sokur, competing in the W21 category, placed fourth in the individual radio orienteering competition.

The total medal count for athletes from the Donetsk region at the European Championships was 12 medals – 6 gold, 2 silver and 4 bronze.
