As part of its work with internally displaced persons, the Donetsk regional center for physical health of population “Sport for all” has created a sports space that unites five areas of regular activity.
The main goal is to provide an opportunity for IDPs from Donetsk oblast to keep fit, socialize and feel united.
The key areas of activity include:
- gym – weekly classes in Dnipro led by trainer Artem Pantelyeyev: participants can improve their fitness and maintain their health in a comfortable environment;
- volleyball training – classes in Dnipro, conducted by coach Serhiy Kudin, promote team cohesion and restore the sporting rhythm of life;
- fitness training in Kyiv with trainer Lilia Dmitriyeva, which helps many IDPs from Donetsk region to keep fit;
- the Running club “Donetsk region” is a true example of the power of community: every week about 40 participants cover a total of more than 1000 km, which allows the club to consistently rank among the top 3 running communities in Ukraine;
- chess and checkers meetings – intellectual events for IDPs from Donetsk region, which are held on a regular basis in Dnipro;
- the football section, which has recently started in Dnipro, is already showing dynamic development and has a high interest from participants.
Such a space is more than just a training ground. It is a place of recovery, support and unity. An environment where sport becomes a source of strength and self-belief even in the most difficult times.
This path is being overcome together with the partners of the Donetsk regional center for physical health of population “Sport for all” – hubs, local centers of physical health of the population “Sport for All” in Donetsk oblast, which systematically take care about IDPs from Donetsk region. Some of the most reliable and active are the IDP Support center for Kramatorsk district “MyRazom” (Dnipro) and the cultural hub “Donetsk region” (Kyiv), whose support has become an important factor in the stable development of the sports space.
The experience gained and the environment today create a solid foundation for the further implementation of the club system in sports – sustainable, multi-vector and accessible to everyone.
