The cultural and educational initiative “Preserved in Memory: The Svyatogorsk Heritage” continues its tour through the Ternopil region. The next hub of remembrance and national solidarity was the Pochaiv Historical and Art Museum, which warmly opened its doors to the exhibition project “Heritage Not Doomed to Destruction.”
The unique symbolism of this event is striking: two major spiritual and historical centers of Ukraine—Svyatogorye in Donetsk Oblast and Pochaiv in Ternopil Oblast—have united in a shared desire to protect and preserve the spiritual and material culture of our people. The presentation of the exhibition in Pochaiv served as a true cultural bridge, uniting the eastern and western regions of the country during these times of severe trials.
Visitors were able to see for themselves the exhibition prepared by specialists from the municipal institution “Administration of the State Historical and Architectural Reserve in Svyatogorsk.” The photographs on display document in detail the effects of enemy shelling on this unique architecture.
The exhibition is striking in its contrast: alongside archival photographs depicting the historical grandeur of Svyatogorsk’s architectural landmarks are contemporary photographs documenting the consequences of their destruction. These materials serve as evidence of the deliberate destruction of Ukrainian culture.
During the presentation, the organizers emphasized that preserving and documenting such crimes is a matter of our national security. These tragic events reveal just how fragile material values are, yet at the same time underscore the indomitable spirit of the Ukrainian people.
The exhibition resonated deeply with visitors, providing an opportunity to reflect on the value of Ukraine’s cultural heritage and the responsibility to preserve it. The Svyatogorsk heritage is an integral part of Ukraine’s cultural legacy, and its protection, preservation, and future restoration are a shared responsibility of the state, the museum community, and all of Ukrainian society.
