On January 21, 2026, on the eve of Ukraine's Unity and Freedom Day, a regional online event called "THE POWER OF UNITY: young people shaping the future of Ukraine" took place.
Seventy leaders of student self-government in Donetsk Oblast from the communities of Illinivska, Bakhmutska, Bilytska, Velykonovosilkovska, Dobropilska, Lymanka, Pokrovska, Selidivska, Slovianska, and Chasovoyarska joined the live broadcast. Despite the war and the distances between them, the students gathered to talk about unity, responsibility, and a shared future.
The event opened a dialogue about unity as internal integrity and the ability to act together. Special thanks were given to Ukrainian soldiers, thanks to whom Ukraine has the opportunity to learn, plan, and create.
The creative block became a space for lively reflection on the idea of unity. Arina Sadkova, Sofia Balakhonets, Mykhailo Tsymbal, Ilona Chetvertak, Veronika Georgitsa, Kira Plakhtii, Bohdan Dubas, and Alevtina Rogulko presented their works and speeches.
Kirill Ponomarenko spoke about youth leadership and the future of Ukraine, presenting the Yedyni team as an example of responsible and systematic work by students in Donetsk Oblast.
The event concluded with a joint flash mob — a vivid gesture of unity among the participants despite the distance, fatigue, and anxiety.
Happy Unity and Freedom Day of Ukraine!
We thank the participants of the event for their strength, responsibility, and faith in the common future of Ukraine!
